TCS named to AP School Honour Roll
  • Gold badge and the text AP Honor Roll 2023

Trinity College School was pleased to learn that it has been named to the Advanced Placement (AP) School Honour Roll for 2023, at the Gold level. The award recognizes “schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access.”

AP School Honour Roll recognition reflects a commitment to preparing students for post-secondary studies through the AP Program. A total of 4,570 schools (30% of eligible high schools) in the U.S. and Canada were recognized, but just 6% received Gold recognition (the second-highest level a school can achieve).

Criteria for the award, as outlined by the College Board, include:

  • 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least one AP exam during high school
  • 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam during high school
  • 2% or more of the graduating cohort took five or more AP exams during high school (with at least one of those exams taken in Grade 9 or 10)

In the spring of 2023, 180 TCS students wrote at least one AP exam, with a total of 352 exams overall written at the School. Nearly 85% of those resulted in scores of 3 or higher. Eleven students earned the AP Capstone Diploma, six students earned the AP Seminar & Research Certificate, and more than 50 students were named AP Scholars.

TCS is proud to offer nearly 20 AP courses and exams, including being one of the select schools in Canada offering the prestigious AP Capstone Diploma. We encourage all students to attempt at least one AP course/exam during their time in the Senior School. The AP program enables high school students to attain a high level of enrichment and acquire advanced study skills by engaging in the rigour of first-year university-level academic content. In doing so, it well prepares students for the demands of post-secondary education.
