Woodworking Club members produce high-quality work

It is hard to believe that yet another term of woodworking has come and gone for members of the Trinity College School Woodworking Club. It has truly been a pleasure to be able to work with and instruct such a wonderful group of student carpenters.

Always on time and eager to get to work in the woodshop, this group of highly motivated and skilled students demonstrated mastery when using a variety of tools. Kami A. hand carved a beautiful dough bowl out of basswood. She placed great care throughout every step of the process and her attention to detail was second to none. Keira L. and Eason F. both chose to carve decorative walking sticks out of white birch and their creative designs, determination and strong fine motor skills resulted in top notch work.

Warren H. and Lewis B. made laminated canoe paddles out of red cedar and basswood that are as good as any paddle I have ever seen. Their craftsmanship was impressive to say the least. Once the paddles were varnished, they switched gears and both worked on the scroll saws and made a decorative TCS logo.

Michelle K. took on an advanced and challenging scroll saw “raccoon” intarsia project and the final product was A+ in my books. I was so impressed with the high quality of work and excellent cutting skills on the saw that she demonstrated from start to finish. Finally, Liam H., a three-term seasoned veteran of the club, took on a small scale timber frame project as he built a cottage generator cover. His work on chiseling the mortises was detailed and professional in appearance.

I am so proud of the accomplishments of each and every student and I was very happy to learn that many of the students would like to continue participating in the club in the future.
