Soon-to-be grads explore post-secondary options
  • Collage of students touring universities

The Grade 12 graduating class at Trinity College School got a taste of post-secondary life as they visited select Ontario university campuses on Monday, October 16th. The annual trips are part of the post-secondary planning process being undertaken by students as they consider their next steps after TCS.

Grade 12 students take part in post-secondary visits in the fall, while our Grade 11 students will make similar trips in the spring.

This year, graduating students were able to select from visiting McMaster University, University of Guelph, University of Toronto (Mississauga and Scarborough campuses), or Carleton University/University of Ottawa. At the schools, students took part in campus tours and Q&A sessions that helped them to understand factors such as school size, residential facilities, student support, etc., which will be added to other research they have been doing through guidance classes to determine what institutions might represent a good “fit” for them.

A highlight of the experience for many students was the chance to speak with former TCS alumni at these institutions. Thank you to Ezekiella Ezeoba ’22, Salem Elfirjani ’22, Elaina Brendel ’21, Addy Malpas ’21, Jake Pritchard ’23, Neyha Billing ’22, Edward Lancaster ’20, Savanna Barker ’22, Maggie McLean ’23 and Stella Ceccato ’23.

Post-secondary visits are one piece of the research process, and we encourage Grade 12 families to also take part in open house days or tours at schools of interest, or larger events such as the Ontario Universities Fair. As well, TCS looks forward to hosting two Post-Secondary Fair events on campus, with the first one scheduled for afternoon flex block on Friday, October 27th in Cirne Commons. And, as always, guidance counsellors are here to support students and their families through the post-secondary decision-making process.
