With the fall term of competitive athletics now well underway, our Trinity College School Bears are posting early season wins, building team cohesion and showcasing newly-learned skills.

Bigside girls basketball has had a strong start to the season, with an exhibition game win over LCS (36-10) during Bear Fair on Saturday, September 23rd, followed by a successful run at the Rockway Mennonite Collegiate tournament, where the Bears went 3-0 including an exciting 33-31 win in overtime in the finals! Regular CISAA league play kicked off with the Bears edging BSS (42-32) in an away game on Monday, October 2nd, followed by 53-9 win over St. Clements two days later. It’s been an up and down start to the field hockey season. Bigside opened with a 0-0 tie against LCS on September 27th, before losing a nail-biter to Havergal by a score of 1-2 on October 2nd. Following the Thanksgiving Break, the Bigside Bears will face Branksome Hall before heading to the Queen’s University tournament. Littleside was edged out by Toronto Montessori (0-1) but came flying back to beat HTS by a score of 6-0 during their tri-meet, hosted by TCS on September 27th. The Middleside DII team has an 0-1-1 record, with a narrow 0-2 loss at Appleby on September 30th followed by a 1-1 tie with CDS on October 4th. The second Middleside squad (DIII) started the season strong with a 1-0 win over Toronto Montessori on October 4th.

Bigside boys soccer currently has a record of 2-2 in CISAA league play, with losses to DLS and SMC and wins over RSGC and Crestwood, whom the Bears defeated 8-1 on October 4th. Littleside sits at 0-1-2, with a loss to DLS followed by draws with Crestwood and SMC.

The Senior School harriers team weathered hot temperatures and showed their grit at the Birchmount Park Invitational on October 3rd. This is a “pre-OFSAA” event where the students took the line with runners from over 100 schools, and many events having 300 or more entrants. Kudos to Noah Shepherd (Novice boys), Andrew Richards (Senior boys), Bianca Rigamonte and Abby Richards (Junior girls) for placing in the top 50 in their respective races. Next up for the team is an invitational meet at Lakefield College School on October 11th, which provides a chance for runners to test themselves on the course that will host the CISAA Championships on October 25th.

Our Junior School harriers team started the season by hosting its Lucky 13 Meet on campus on September 21st. Click here to read all about the event!
